WORLD FUTURE FUND
In the world of photography, it is often hard to keep up with who does what, until an image pops out of nowhere that immediately commands your attention. The work of Russian photographer Elena Shumilova does just that. If a picture speaks a thousand words, Shumilova has surely captured an entire library on film. Simple, clean, and doused with a sense of innocence and magic, Shumilova's work showcases the raw beauty of nature along with the multifaceted human spirit. What makes her work even more unique is that she normally doesn't travel very far to capture such brilliant images. Her children and her animals are returning subjects of her work, and the way she manages to highlight their fragile, curious existence is truly remarkable.
While there are countless child photographers out there, there are not many who can adequately capture the vast imagination and sense of wonder that children possess. Shumilova does just that with her work, and her fan base is ever-growing. She no longer accepts private photo shoots or commission work, since with clients, she was not allowed such freedom in expression (500 PX). Instead of pursuing the line of high-fashion or glamour photography, Shumilova realized that everything necessary to create great images was already in her possession at home.
