The National Film Development Corporation is the central agency established to encourage the growth of India's cinema industry.   The primary goal of the NFDC is to plan, promote, and organize the integrated and efficient development of Indian film making and to foster excellence.  Over the years, the NFDC (and its predecessor, the Film Finance Corporation) has so far funded or produced over 300 films.   These films, in various Indian languages, have been widely acclaimed and have won many national and international awards.

Yash Raj Films Pvt. Ltd.

Yash Chopra founded Yash Raj Films in 1971.  Yash Chopra is arguably India's most successful director of commercial films and Yash Raj films is one of the richest and most powerful studios in Mumbai.  Yash Raj handles movie distribution both in India and overseas.

Mukta Arts Limited was established in 1978.  Since then, the company has emerged as one of the fastest growing in the Indian entertainment industry.  Today, the company has assumed a prolific character, by venturing into motion picture production, studio and post-production work, the production of music albums, graphics and special effects, promotional and advertising film production, movie sales and distribution networking, and Whistling Woods International - An Institute for Film, Television, and the Media Arts.

Rajshri Productions (P) Ltd.

The Rajshri group is one of India's largest, oldest, and most successful entertainment  movie conglomerates.  Established on August 15, 1947, Rajshri has produced 49 Hindi feature films.  Many of these are among Indian cinema’s biggest hits.  Rajshri also owns India’s largest and most comprehensive film distribution network, with 21 offices covering 13,500 screens throughout India.

Shekhar Kapur is an internationally acclaimed director, known for films like "Elizabeth: Bandit Queen".  His productions are notable for their superior portrayal of poignant themes and excellent cinematic presentation.

Dharma Productions Pvt. Ltd.

Dharma Productions was established by Yash Johar in 1976.  The Dharma Productions Group is one of India’s leading feature film production companies.  It completed 25 years of Film making in 2001.  The company is well known for producing hugely popular family entertainment movies.



Initiated as a film news and views magazine in the 1970s, over the years, Filmfare has evolved as an entertainment medium in itself.  This monthly magazine covers the gamut of happenings in Indian show-business, including movies, music, and television.  Its articles include gossip, interviews, previews, reviews, and profiles.  Filmfare also sponsors an annual award for excellence in Indian cinema.

Cinema in India is a quarterly film magazine sponsored by National Film Development Corporation of India (see NFDC above).
